SAN JOSE — A mother and one of her sons were killed in a fire that gutted a condominium early Saturday, and fire officials said security bars on the windows and door trapped the victims inside.
America Martinez, 40, burned to death in the 1 a.m. fire on Tannhauser Court, and her son Jose, 17, died of smoke inhalation.
Fire walls prevented the flames from spreading to adjoining units, Battalion Chief Robert Dorman said.
