Local News in Brief : Cyclist’s Death Investigated
Torrance police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old man who died early New Year’s Day after his motorcycle slammed into a car.
Marcial Padron of Torrance was heading west on 190th Street about 12:30 a.m. when he collided with a car driven by Yae Sugawars, 30, also of Torrance, said Sgt. Gary Webb. Sugawars who was headed east on 190th, was turning left onto Van Ness Avenue when the accident occurred, Webb said. Sugawars was treated for injuries and no one was cited.
Padron was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he died a short time later of massive internal injuries, Webb said.
