San Diego
Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting early Saturday that brought out the SWAT team in search of a possible sniper.
Police Department Lt. Lou Scanlon said Richard C. Belcher, 24, who was listed in stable condition at Paradise Valley Hospital, and Don R. Palmer, 26, who was treated and released, were both shot in the leg.
Police said the shootings took place in the 300 block of Los Angeles Place in Southeast San Diego. A sedan drove by a large group of partygoers standing outside a house, and the occupants opened fire, police said.
While police were investigating, they heard more gunfire from a house nearby and called in SWAT officers. The officers surrounded, then entered, the house, only to find it unoccupied. Officers confiscated a shotgun and a pellet gun inside, Scanlon said.
