Contrary to the belief of Greg Herken, as expressed in his review of my book “The Limited Partnership” (The Book Review, Nov. 29), I am not a student of Professors Carnesale and Haass. Nor did I receive my Ph.D. from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School. While these two gentlemen are dear old friends, I earned my Ph.D. at a far more venerable institution, the Harvard Government Department, and then way back in 1975.
