San Diego homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man found lying on the sidewalk in the 300 block of Dodson Street early Friday, a police spokeswoman said.
Lt. Connie Van Putten said officers responding to a radio call at 3 a.m. found the victim, Kenneth Williams, lying near a fallen bicycle and bleeding from a gunshot wound in the chest. Williams, 26, was transported by paramedics to Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:42 a.m.
Van Putten said a preliminary investigation has focused on the possibility of an argument between Williams and residents of an apartment complex at 355 Dodson St. No arrests had been made as of Friday evening.
