One Road to the American Dream

More than 60 years ago, a “street philosopher and poet” expounded the following:
“Time flies by! Life can’t last! Get it, now! Get it, fast!” Rita Simon’s erudite article reminds me of that bit of doggerel. Appropriately, it was on a New York bench at Trinity Church at Wall Street!
The “grab and run” syndrome goes on, apace. It is propelled by heat rather than light. Easy to get burned. Simon explains it well in a fine, intellectual way. That street philosopher said it all in twelve words of anarchic arrogance.
