Loyola of Chicago Tests Lions’ Home Record Tonight

Loyola of Chicago (5-2) should present the stiffest home challenge so far to Loyola Marymount tonight at 7:30 in a nonconference basketball game in Gersten Pavilion.
Loyola Marymount is 4-0 at home and 5-3 overall. Loyola of Chicago (5-2) has a talented lineup, featuring 6-foot 9-inch second-year freshman Kenny Miller, the nation’s leading rebounder with an average of 16.1. He is also scoring an average of nearly 15 points per game.
Other key players for the Ramblers are 6-6 junior forward Gerald Hayward, the team’s scoring leader with an average of 24.1, and 6-6 junior guard Antowne Johnson, averaging 12.9 points and 6.4 rebounds.
The Ramblers have already played the highest-scoring team in the nation--losing to Oklahoma, 123-73--and will face a Lion team that is a close second, scoring an average of more than 109 points per game while allowing 91.5.
Lion leaders include Hank Gathers (24.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game), Corey Gaines (21 points and 9.5 assists) and Mike Yoest (16 points and 7.5 rebounds). Bo Kimble, who has scored 44 points in two games since returning from an injury, will continue to come off the bench.
