Ex-Sen. Yarborough on Mend From Heart Surgery

AUSTIN, Tex. — Former Sen. Ralph Yarborough is progressing in his recovery from heart surgery and probably will be released from Seton Medical Center within a week, a hospital spokeswoman said Sunday. The 84-year-old leader of the Democratic Party’s liberal wing in Texas served in the U.S. Senate from 1957 until 1971.
