Arcadia : Density Limit Reinstated
The City Council has reinstated a zoning requirement that permits only one apartment or condominium unit per 2,000 square feet of lot.
Density limits had been deleted in 1980 when the council adopted other requirements, dealing among other things with parking and open space, said Corky Nicholson, an associate planner. Nicholson said the lack of a density limit was feasible until about three years ago when developers began high-density building, especially on smaller lots.
The ordinance will take effect in February, but Nicholson said there are no developers who have submitted plans who will be affected by the new requirement.
