ROME — A Dutch teen-ager was seized today after he hijacked a KLM airliner and threatened to blow it up. He was grabbed by police after he released most of its 91 passengers. The remaining passengers and crew got off unharmed after the capture.
The 15-year-old hijacker had demanded 1 million guilders (about $450,000) and threatened to blow up the Boeing 737 after the jet landed at Leonardo da Vinci airport, according to KLM officials. Negotiations went on while the plane was on an isolated runway and surrounded by police. Flight 343 was carrying 91 passengers and six crew members from Amsterdam to Milan when it was hijacked, KLM officials said.
