Year-End Deadline Nears for State Home Energy Assistance Program

BELLFLOWER — Dec. 31 is the deadline for applications for California’s Home Energy Assistance Program for 1987, Assemblyman Paul E. Zeltner (R-Bellflower) has announced.
“HEAP is designed to assist low-income families meet the high costs of heating and cooling their homes,” Zeltner said, adding that those who qualify for the program receive a one-time annual payment toward energy bills.
To qualify for the program, applicants must be receiving Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Program payments, Aid to Families With Dependent Children, specified veterans’ and survivors’ pension benefits or food stamps.
In addition, households with incomes at or below 110% of the federally established poverty level may qualify for the program. Other application information for the program may be obtained by contacting Zeltner’s office at 920-9755.
