Baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth made no commitments on future expansion at a meeting in Washington with a group of senators from states interested in getting major league teams.
After a meeting with 10 senators representing Colorado, Arizona, Ohio, Indiana and Florida, as well as the delegate from the District of Columbia, Ueberroth said baseball wants to expand, but that it has no timetable and has made no commitments to any city.
“We talked about all kinds of scenarios,” Ueberroth said. “The numbers that get interesting are 30 or 32 teams down the line. There is no commitment from baseball.”
