Times to Pick All-Star Team
The Times will announce its annual All-Westside high school football team in the Thursday Westside section.
The annual all-star football awards breakfast, which salutes 276 top players from 12 areas (including the Inland Empire and Ventura County for the first time this year), will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Anaheim Hilton, 777 Convention Way. Featured speaker will be Larry Smith, coach of the Rose Bowl-bound USC Trojans.
Each first-team player will receive a certificate and trophy. In addition, a back, lineman and coach of the year from each area will be announced and each will receive a special trophy.
Bill Dwyre, Times sports editor, will present the first Glenn Davis Trophy to the outstanding prep player in Southern California.
