Prep Soccer Roundup : Swindle Kicks Brea-Olinda to Victory

Matt Swindle scored a pair of goals on penalty kicks to lead Brea-Olinda High School to a 2-1 victory over Marina in a boys’ nonleague soccer game Friday at Brea-Olinda.
Swindle scored at the 25-minute mark in the first half and at the 29-minute mark in the second half.
Steve Lapper scored late in the game for Marina (0-1).
Goalie Dan La France had six saves for Brea-Olinda (2-0-1).
In other nonleague boys’ soccer:
Laguna Hills 2, Mission Viejo 0--Matt Logan scored a first-half goal and Brian Fleming scored a second-half goal for the Hawks at Laguna Hills.
Kevin Casagranda had nine saves for Laguna Hills (1-0-1). Mission Viego is 0-1-1.
Huntington Beach 2, Long Beach Wilson 1--Shawn Bruckler scored two goals on penalty kicks to lead the Oilers at Long Beach Wilson. Goalkeeper Alex Tipolt had three saves in the first half, and teammate James Acton had eight in the second for Huntington Beach (2-0).
Canyon 2, Ganesha 0--Jessie Flores scored in the first half and Fernie Sumaya scored in the second half for Canyon (3-0) at home. Darren Luack had five and Chris Snitko six saves for Canyon.
In girls’ soccer:
Sonora 1, Brea-Olinda 1--Brea-Olinda’s Elese Krowder scored 30 minutes into second half to tie the score for the Wildcats (0-1-2) at Sonora. The Raiders, who scored early in the first period, are 0-0-1.
Esperanza 1, Canyon 0--Striker Colleen Gamblin scored from 10 yards out early in the first half at Esperanza to lead the Aztecs (2-0-1) to their second shutout this season. The Aztecs had 20 shots on goal; the Comanches had none.
