Kidnaped Woman Freed in Italy
FLORENCE, Italy — Police burst into an apartment in a posh seaside resort early today and freed a 33-year-old woman kidnaped three weeks ago, authorities said.
Two men guarding her with pistols were arrested in the raid, staged just after midnight. Cristiana Bessi, co-owner of a printing company, appeared to be in good condition. She was abducted Nov. 11 as she left her company offices near Florence. The kidnapers had demanded a ransom of $4 million. Police traced the woman to a condominium complex in Portoverde di Misano Adriatico, on the Adriatic coast.
