‘Infantile Fantasies’
Glidden admits to his own infantile fantasies about using real firearms against others. Worse, Glidden admits that his violent urges have a bigger target: us. He itches to use the guns of government power to fulfill his infantile desire to coercively confiscate everybody’s handguns. His reason: He assumes that the rest of us are as unstable as he is.
Those with minds as violent and authoritarian as Glidden’s should be dismissed as extremists or paranoids by the lawmakers of any free society. The framers of our Constitution recognized that freedom required that power must be held by the people, and they enshrined in our Bill of Rights that a key part of the people’s power was firepower, the right to bear arms.
