Pepperdine Plays Host to UC Irvine

Pepperdine, coming off an 84-76 overtime victory in its season opener Saturday against DePaul at Rosemont, Ill., plays host to UC Irvine tonight in a nonconference basketball game at 7:30.

Irvine is coming off Saturday’s 86-83 win over Manhattan in the championship game of the Freedom Bowl tournament. Senior center Wayne Engelstad scored 27 points to lead the Anteaters in that game.

Tom Lewis, a transfer from USC, led Pepperdine scorers in the Waves’ win over then-20th-ranked DePaul with 26 points.
