Black Radio

Oh, come on Calendar.
You finally do an article on black radio and you slam the stations for not playing every single black artist who ever cut a record.
It is not the function of black artists, black listeners or black radio stations to act as a monolith. Generally, radio stations adopt a format and play music that fits the genre--PERIOD. That’s why non-black artist like Kenny G, Teena Marie and George Michael either broke or have large followings on black radio.
Joan Armatrading doesn’t get airplay because she doesn’t look like Sade? Jonathan Butler does get airplay because he has a light complexion? Kid Creole doesn’t get it because he refuses to get a jheri curl?
I’ve never heard such ridiculousness in my life.
