Racing at Hollywood Park : Field of 14 Set for Sunday’s Citation Handicap

Fourteen horses, including Forlitano and Tasso, were entered Friday to run in Sunday’s Citation Handicap at Hollywood Park.

Forlitano will be ridden by Pat Valenzuela, and was assigned high weight of 120 pounds for the 11th running of the 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-olds and up on the turf course. Tasso will be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and was assigned 119 pounds.

Other entries include Saronicos, who will be ridden by Alex Solis and was assigned 117 pounds; Honor Medal, Ray Sibille, 117; Sabona, Laffit Pincay, 116; Santella Mac, Aaron Gryder, 116; Ifrad, Bill Shoemaker, 115; Conquering Hero, Rafael Meza, 115; World Court, Corey Black, 115; Schiller, Martin Pedroza, 115; Lord Grundy, Jacinto Vasquez, 115; Skip Out Front, Angel Cordero Jr., 115; Grey Classic, Sandy Hawley, 114, and Sharp Romance, Michael Wigham, 110.

Forlitano and Ifrad, both trained by Charlie Whittingham, will run as an entry.

The total purse will be $118,500 with $73,500 going to the winner.

Aberuschka drew high weight of 119 pounds for the six-furlong, $75,000 Hollywood Turf Express today at Hollywood Park. The race, for 3-year-olds and up, drew a field of 11, also including Lord Rukus and Truce Maker, both of which will carry 116 pounds.

In action Friday at Hollywood Park, Fieldy, ridden by Angel Cordero Jr., and Any Song, with Bill Shoemaker aboard, both made their moves after the halfway points to win their respective divisions of the Allez France Handicap before a crowd of 23,980.

Fieldy, sixth at the halfway point in the 10-horse, $69,350 first division, rallied along the inner rail to beat favored Invited Guest, ridden by Shoemaker, by a neck. Timed in 1:41 3/5 for the 1 1/16th-mile turf test for fillies and mares 3 yearsold and up, Fieldy paid $11.20, $5.40 and $3.40.

The victory was worth $42,350 for Fieldy, which carried 117 pounds.

In the 11-horse, $70,100 second division, Shoemaker worked Any Song from eighth at the halfway point into command leaving the furlong marker to beat Down Again by 2 1/2 lengths. Carrying 114 pounds and timed in 1:40 4/5, Any Song paid $13.40, $6.40 and $5.
