Finals Today in Water Polo, 2 Other Prep Sports
Unseeded Harvard High School of North Hollywood will meet Costa Mesa, the top-seeded team, for the Southern Section 2-A water polo title today at 4 p.m. at Long Beach’s Belmont Plaza pool.
Harvard, which upset third-seeded La Serna of Whittier in the quarterfinals, is 25-5. Costa Mesa is 23-6.
The 3-A will be an all-Empire League affair, with El Dorado of Placentia (17-12) and two-time defending champion, taking on Los Alamitos (27-4) at 5:30. Before Los Alamitos won the league title this season, it had finished second to El Dorado for eight straight years.
The tripleheader at Belmont Plaza will conclude with the 4-A game at 8:45, Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (26-4) playing Newport Harbor of Newport Beach (25-4).
Palisades, defending its City 4-A girls’ volleyball title, will play Carson tonight at 8 at Pauley Pavilion in the championship match.
Palisades is 13-0 and Carson is 14-0.
In the 3-A match at 6, Bell (13-3) will play Eagle Rock (13-3).
The Southern Section girls’ individual tennis finals will be played today at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
The semifinals will start at 1 p.m., with the final round following.
