Julian Weaver, principal at Jenifer Graham’s Victor Valley High School, has opened his mouth and exposed one of public education’s greatest flaws--protecting its own ignorance.

As an educator involved with implementing educational reforms (California Educational Reform Act, 1983) in a system that is all too often impossible to change from within, Weaver should have acted like a model educator and applauded Jenifer Graham’s moral action on the dissection of frogs, but instead he ended up slimier than a frog and with froth on his mouth.

Obviously, Jenifer has learned more from the school’s language arts program than from her principal: she speaks like a pro on national television; she thinks about issues that many adults, let alone students, never act upon; and she obviously reads and writes well enough to contribute to the welfare of her society.

But for all her accomplishments, the school “rewarded” Jenifer--a citizen of a capitalist society--by accusing her of “exploitation” because she profited--not only herself--but her world.

Wise up, Julian!
