SAN DIEGO — A cocaine possession charge against defensive back Danny Walters of the San Diego Chargers was suspended by a judge Thursday pending the completion of a drug education program.
The charge will be dismissed when Walters completes the two-year program, if he isn’t convicted of any drug offenses and submits to periodic drug-testing.
San Diego police said they found 1.7 ounces of cocaine in Walters’ clothing after they stopped him on Sept. 14 for driving erratically.
Municipal Judge H. Ronald Domnitz also suspended a six-month jail term and fined Walters $750 for driving under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped. Walters, 27, had pleaded no-contest to the drunk-driving charge.
