Almost Any Bait Is Working for Trout at Irvine Lake

If fishing for big trout sounds like fun, then the place to be this week is Irvine Lake. Trout in the 10-pound range are being caught there with fair regularity, biting on practically any bait.
For example, Sparky Pavalonis of Fullerton used a salmon egg to catch an 11-pound 8-ounce rainbow, and Jim White of Gardena used cheese to catch one weighing 10 pounds 10 ounces. For Steve Pieratt of Brea, a nightcrawler was the charm. He caught one weighing 10 pounds 8 ounces.
