Spanish Police Raid Frees Kidnaped Girl
CADIZ, Spain — An elite police group early this morning raided a house in this southern port city and freed the 6-year-old daughter of a Lebanese millionaire kidnaped 11 days ago, a spokesman for the interior ministry said. She was unharmed.
At least two people were arrested in the 2 a.m. raid that freed Melodie Nakachian, he added. There was a brief scuffle between the police and people in the house, he added, and at least one of the girl’s abductors was injured.
Four hooded men kidnaped the girl from a family car Nov. 9 as she was being taken from her home in Estepona to a school in the resort of Marbella. The kidnapers first demanded a ransom of $13 million.
