Nostalgia Sailing
Reader Sharon Dirlam’s article on Ocean Voyages (Oct. 25) and finding Paul Myers’ schooner Whales Tale mentioned was instant nostalgia for me. I have sailed on Whales Tale twice, the first a cruise through some of Fiji’s more remote islands, a world of hidden coves, coconut-strewn beaches and little children who led us by the hand to show us their villages. My second voyage was a five-day ocean passage from Fiji to the archipelago of Vanuatu (formerly New Hebrides), another Pacific paradise. Sailing on a beautiful yacht with its own crew and chef to take care of you has to be one of the world’s most memorable vacations. Everyone should try it at least once.
