Kapalua Golf Tournament : Bean Leading by Three After a 65
KAPALUA, Hawaii — Defending champion Andy Bean shot a seven-under-par 65 Thursday to take a three-stroke lead in the second round of the $600,000 Kapalua International golf tournament.
Bean, sidelined most of last season because of elbow tendinitis, posted his second straight round without a bogey for a 131 total.
Three stokes behind, at 134, were first-round leader Sandy Lyle of Scotland, who shot a 69, and Lanny Wadkins, who had a 67.
Payne Stewart was next at 136, with Ben Crenshaw and Ian Woosnam of Wales at 138. Jack Nicklaus was at 143 after shooting a 70 on the Bay course.
