Judge Ginsburg Withdraws
Recently, a young acquaintance of mine, a new university graduate, submitted his application to join the police force of a Los Angeles County city.
He passed the written examinations with flying colors. He excelled in the prescribed, strenuous tests of physical ability and stamina. The examiners were impressed by his winning personality.
He was called in for a final, personal interview. The sergeant asked a routine question: Had he used marijuana?
End of interview. End of application.
Of course, as consolation, he is still eligible to be nominated for a seat on the United States Supreme Court. Right, Mr. Meese? Right, Mr. President?
