Taylor Leads AIA to Exhibition Win

SAN DIEGO — Athletes In Action, led by Derrick Taylor’s 23 points, beat the University of San Diego, 102-87, in an exhibition college basketball game in front of 1,321 at the USD Sports Center Friday night. Taylor hit 9 of 11 shots from the field, including 3 of 4 from three-point range.
AIA shot 89.3% from the free throw line and hit 61% from the field. AIA led at halftime, 56-35.
Zack Jones had 15 points and Lorenzo Romar added 12 for AIA.
USD was led by Danny Means’ 21 points and Marty Munn’s 19. Kelvin Means added 11 for the Toreros. USD made 50.8% of its field-goal attempts but hit only 59.3% from the free-throw line.
The victory was AIA’s fourth without a loss. USD opens its regular season Nov. 27 at Rice.
