Boeing Co. announced the formation of a new operating organization to be known as Boeing Advanced Systems Co. It is the Seattle-based firm’s seventh operating unit and consists of what was essentially the Seattle-based portion of the Boeing Military Airplane, which is headquartered in Wichita, Kan. Boeing Advanced Systems will work on selected new development projects. A major program for the new company is the Advanced Tactical Fighter, on which Boeing is teamed with Lockheed and General Dynamics.
