Georges Franju, French Film Director
Georges Franju, 75, director of French fantasy films and co-founder of the Cinematheque Francaise. Franju directed such films as “Fantomas” and “Judex,” which were both named after movie characters, and “Nuits Rouges” (Red Nights). The immensely popular films used a straight-forward style to tell the story of fantasy characters. In 1936, with director Henri Langlois, Franju founded the Cinematheque Francaise, the national film archives. In Paris on Thursday of unannounced causes.
