Local News in Brief : Boat Launchings Get OK
The Redondo Beach City Council has agreed unanimously to allow small-boat launching this winter at the Harbor Patrol facilities in King Harbor.
Launching will be restricted from 6 a.m. to sunset when the docks are not in use for emergency activity by the Harbor Patrol.
The council also authorized a request from Harbor Director Sheila Shoettger to retain a consultant in order to find a long-term solution to the problem of how and where to launch recreational boats in winter.
For the past five years, the city has removed its boat-launching ramp from the harbor in the winter to prevent damage from storms.
