Wilmington Library to Get Maritime Books
The new Wilmington Library will receive $5,000 worth of maritime books and research materials--a gift from the Port of Los Angeles.
In a report to port commissioners last week, Port Executive Director Ezunial Burts noted that in 1980, the port made a similar contribution to the then-new San Pedro Library which, like the new Wilmington library, is a branch of the city’s library system.
Burts said the harbor area libraries “have long been a major source of research material for the Harbor Department staff, port tenants, visiting American and foreign seamen, and the harbor community at large.”
