Local News in Brief : Postal Staff Evacuated
Two hundred postal employees were evacuated from a bulk mail center in Bell for two hours and 12 were treated at local hospitals after a container with a non-hazardous chemical spilled early Tuesday, authorities said.
Employees at the U.S. Postal Service branch at 5555 E. Bandini Blvd. reported nausea, headaches and various irritations just after midnight, a county Fire Department dispatcher said. They apparently inhaled a nontoxic gas created when the quart container of diammonium sulfide spilled, the dispatcher said.
