Kasparov Wins Game, Evens Chess Match, 4-4

SEVILLE, Spain — Gary Kasparov, the world chess champion, won game 8 of his title contest with challenger Anatoly Karpov today to even the match score at 4-4.
Karpov, playing black, resigned after Kasparov’s 50th move. As the players shook hands, there was a prolonged round of applause, punctuated by whistling from the audience in the Lope de Vega Theater.
