Contras Send Letter to Ortega

American peace activist Paul Alan Fisher said today that Contra rebels who abducted him and then released him almost two weeks later gave him a letter for President Daniel Ortega calling for peace talks.

Fisher, 41, of Mill Valley, Calif., appeared before reporters looking tired. He said he was suffering from an infection and low-grade fever “but otherwise I don’t feel bad. I am not planning to go home.” He said the leader of the rebels, who called himself Comandante Quiche, gave him a letter for Ortega which they want published in the opposition newspaper La Prensa.
