On a fourth-and-goal play from the 4-yard line with 1:47 left in the game, Notre Dame quarterback Morgan Shepherd completed a pass to Pat Wilkison between two defenders for the touchdown that pulled the Knights to within 17-16. The two-point conversion attempt failed when Shepherd’s pass was intercepted by Eric Echeverry. . . . Louis Patino scored on a 3-yard run for St. Francis with 7:43 left that broke a 10-10 tie. The key play on the 77-yard drive was a 54-yard pass from Bill Morris to Dave Woolard.
