Local News in Brief : Man Sought in Vandalism
- Share via
Police Monday were seeking to question a transient who frequented several Fairfax district synagogues prior to weekend vandalism that left windows smashed and doors broken at five of them.
Congregants have told authorities that the bearded man, whose name they said they did not know, had prayed at the synagogues before the incidents. The man became angry and made threats after being ousted from one of the synagogues for panhandling and disrupting the prayer services, they said.
In prior weeks, congregants told police, the man had been fed and given money by members of the synagogues. Vandalized were Congregation Tifereth Zvi, Etz Jacob Synagogue, Congregation Kehilath Yitzchok, Congregation Mogen Abraham and Congregation Aatzei Chaim.
