Redskin, a 3-year-old chestnut colt driven by John Campbell, overtook favorite Jate Lobell with 1/16th of a mile to go Sunday night to win the $447,310 Messenger Stakes by two lengths at Roosevelt Raceway in Westbury, N.Y.
The Messenger is the final leg of pacing’s triple crown. Righteous Bucks won the Cane Pace at Yonkers, the first leg, and Jaguar Spur won the Little Brown Jug, the second leg.
