ORANGE COUNTY PREP FOOTBALL : Sonora Beats Brea-Olinda

The Sonora High School football players had several reasons for dousing Coach Steve Silberman with a bucket of water after their 20-7 victory over Brea-Olinda Thursday night in La Habra Stadium.
The Raiders (2-1-1) achieved three objectives with the victory:
--They avenged last season’s 23-0 loss to Brea (2-2).
--They won two straight games for the first time in two years.
--They matched last season’s victory total.
Sonora won the game despite injuries to its top two offensive players. Quarterback Billy Robb, who didn’t practice all week because of a thigh injury, still managed to complete 8 of 13 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. Running back Chris Schenk injured his hip in the second half but gained 57 yards and rushed for a touchdown.
Though the score was tied at halftime, 7-7, Sonora pulled away in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns. Robb threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Reeves with 10 minutes left in the game. On their next possession, the Raiders scored on a one-yard run by Marcus Garrett with two minutes remaining.
