Local News in Brief : Redeveloper Named
Mayor Tom Bradley has appointed the former board chairman of May Co. to the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, which oversees millions of dollars in city-sponsored construction and renovation projects throughout Los Angeles.
Edwin E. Steidle replaces Christopher Stewart, president of the Central City Assn., who had resigned. Steidle, who started in the retail business with Sears in 1941, headed May Co. from 1974 to 1983. He was senior vice president of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and presently owns Scotts Inc., operator of women’s specialty stores in Ventura and Santa Monica.
