Bellflower : Mobile Home Rent Protest
About 150 mobile home owners met with Bellflower city officials Tuesday night to protest rent increases and conditions at several of the city’s 46 mobile home parks.
At Monday night’s council meeting, former City Councilman James Earle Christo presented the Bellflower council with copies of mobile home rent control measures from other cities, including Thousand Oaks and neighboring Paramount, where a proposed ordinance will go to referendum Dec. 8.
“We think our rent increases are out of line,” said a resident of the Bar-G Inn Mobile Home Park in Bellflower. “We are not talking rent control, we are talking rent stabilization. I think the ordinances proposed to the council last night were very fair.”
