Brinderson and Partner Awarded Navy Pacts Totaling $123 Million
Brinderson Corp. in Irvine and J.A. Jones Construction, a joint-venture partner in Charlotte, N.C., have been awarded Navy contracts worth at least $123.3 million.
Brinderson, a public works construction firm, said it will have a 60% interest and Jones a 40% stake in a $26.3-million, two-year contract to build basing facilties for aircraft carriers in Everett, Wash. Work on the project, which has options worth $7.1 million more, is expected to begin in the next 15 days, according to Brinderson Chairman Gary L. Brinderson.
Additionally, Jones is the 60% partner and Brinderson the 40% partner in a $97-million contract to build a submarine dry dock in Kingsbury, Ga. Work has already started on that project. Neither contract is expected to create jobs locally, Brinderson said.
He said his privately owned company is working on about $500 million in Navy contracts and has recently bid on a Navy contract worth $90 million.
