Clifford Allen, a highly recruited basketball player, has left the University of Nevada Las Vegas to enroll in a Texas junior college.

Allen, who spent most of his teen-age years in California juvenile reform camps, will attend Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Tex., UNLV Coach Jerry Tarkanian said.

Tarkanian said that Allen, a 6-foot 9-inch center, had trouble adjusting academically to UNLV, where he was enrolled for the fall semester.

Allen, 19, has limited playing experience but has received high praise from many college coaches.
