A millionaire businessman was found shot to death in his West Hollywood apartment Thursday, authorities reported.
Alfredo de la Vega, 75, was found by a neighbor in his apartment in the 1200 block of North Crescent Heights Boulevard, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Hal Grant said.
De la Vega, who reportedly lived alone with his pet spaniel, Sonia, was friends with actor Jimmy Stewart, members of the Reagan Administration and former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico John Gavin, KNBC-TV reported.
The man’s identity was confirmed by a county coroner’s investigator.
He had been shot several times in the upper body, and a revolver was found near him, Sheriff’s Lt. Gil Leslie said. There was no sign that his apartment had been broken into or burglarized, Leslie said.
“Right now we don’t know what we’ve got,” Leslie added. “We’re investigating a person dead under suspicious circumstances. We’re not listing it as a murder, suicide or accidental.”
