A survey of credit card rates prepared by a research and newsletter firm that receives financial support from American Express will no longer appear in the Wall Street Journal, the paper reported. Bank Credit Card Observer, based in Kendall Park, N.J., confirmed last week that it has received money from American Express since its 1986 inception. The newsletter’s publisher, John C. Pollock, denied his reporting is influenced by subsidies that the industry trade publication the American Banker estimated had totaled $500,000 over the two-year period.
