Vail Lake Is a Hot Spot for Catfish, Largemouth Bass
- Share via
Big catfish continue to be the main attraction at most reservoirs, and largemouth bass fishing seems to be picking as well.
At Vail Lake, both species have been active and several fish caught have been bigger than usual.
Claire Bacon of Encinitas had the most success with catfish, catching three in the 10-pound range early this week. Then on a return trip Wednesday, he caught 10 more weighing 71 pounds 12 ounces.
Meanwhile, Charles Thrasher of Anaheim caught a 10-pound 8-ounce bass. Paul Warren of San Clemente fell short of that with one bass weighing 9 pounds 15 ounces.
