Dukes Win PCL Title by Beating Calgary, 11-7

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Jose Gonzalez hit a three-run homer, and Albuquerque pounded out 14 hits Friday night to defeat Calgary, 11-7, and win the Pacific Coast League championship.
The Dukes won the best-of-five series, 3-1.
A single by infielder Jack Perconte snapped a 7-7 tie in the seventh inning. The Dukes added two more runs in the inning on a bases-loaded single by Shanie Dugas and a wild pitch by Calgary relief pitcher Paul Schneider.
Outfielder Reggie Williams had started the winning Albuquerque rally with a double off losing pitcher Rich Monteleone (6-14), and Perconte greeted Calgary reliever Darren Burroughs with his game-winning RBI single.
Catcher Gil Reyes hit a solo homer in the second nning to give Albuquerque a 4-3 lead, and Gonzalez’s three-run blast off Calgary starter Jim Walker put the Dukes ahead, 7-4.
Calgary battled back with homers by Edgar Martinez and catcher Jerry Narron in the second inning, then staged a three-run seventh that was highlighted by Dave Hengel’s bases-loaded single.
Albuquerque relief pitcher Bill Brennan (11-9) got the win, pitching two-hit ball over the final three innings.
