A 22-year-old Anaheim man died after being shot twice at his apartment early Friday when a handgun discharged as he struggled with a woman, police said.
When police responded about 6:30 a.m. to a call about possible shots being fired in an apartment in the 2100 block of South Harbor Boulevard, they found Raun Lauderdale dead with “two gunshot wounds to the abdomen,” Anaheim Police Sgt. Tom Beardman said.
The woman, whose identity was withheld, was hysterical and suffering from shock and minor injuries, he said.
“(The two) were alone inside the apartment, and the victim attempted to sexually assault the female,” Beardman said. “She armed herself with a handgun, and the victim fought with her over the weapon. The weapon discharged, and the victim was struck twice.”
The woman was released after questioning. The investigation is continuing.
