CSUN Volleyball Team Bounces Back, Beats Westmont in 3 Games
Cal State Northridge won its first volleyball match of the season Saturday night, defeating host Westmont, 15-11, 15-3, 15-4, in a nonconference match.
The Lady Matadors’ victory followed a three-game loss to USC on Friday night at Northridge.
“We passed the ball much better tonight,” CSUN Coach Walt Ker said. “We had a tough time receiving last night.”
Ker attributed the improvement to better concentration and relaxation.
“The girls might have been a little too excited last night,” he said. “Tonight they were more relaxed. They weren’t uptight.”
Senior Angela Brinton led the Northridge passing attack and freshman Kathleen Dixon and sophomore Alissa Evans played well at the middle blocker positions, Ker said.
Northridge, the four-time defending California Collegiate Athletic Assn. champion, travels to the UC Davis tournament Friday and Saturday.
