WASHINGTON — A Denver subsidiary of the defense contractor TRW Inc. was charged today in a 10-count federal indictment with overcharging the government by about $2.6 million in 1983 and 1984.
The Pentagon said in a statement that TRW agreed to plead guilty to the charges, filed in Denver against TRW-Electronic Product Inc., and to pay the government $17 million in damages for that and other cases involving TRW. TRW, the nation’s 21st biggest defense firm with $1 billion in contracts a year, will not be barred from future contracts because it voluntarily disclosed the problems after an internal investigation, the Pentagon said.
